In May, 2009, the arrival of M/N MSC Andes, was the commencement of the operations in the Container Terminal, which started to be built up in April, 2007.
During its construction, that lasted 25 months, a great variety of elements were defined, evaluated and selected, which allowed to put into market a highly efficient and competitive Container Terminal
Puerto de Coronel receives an important volume of Bulk cargo, import and Export, like wheat, wood chips, soya, corn, gluten, urea, between others.
With the start up of its new finger pier, specialized on dry bulk cargo, Puerto de coronel bets on converting itself in the main bulk terminal of the Bio Bio region.
The most important operation is coal discharge, which is required by Thermo electric complex Santa María of Colbun S.A., which is located approximately at 1.500 m East of the Terminal.
